Laurel D. Edgeworth is an associate attorney at Timothy M. Cary & Associates. Ms. Edgeworth focuses her practice on construction law, public contracts, intellectual property, internet law, business and commercial transactions.
Ms. Edgeworth counsels clients all aspects of trademark, copyright and trade secret matters including branding strategies, trademark registration, e-commerce and internet issues, infringement problems and privacy concerns. She provides counsel to start-up and emerging companies on initial formation issues, licensing, strategies and the assembly of appropriate teams to meet all client needs.
Since joining the firm in May of 2006, Ms. Edgeworth has been actively involved in drafting pleadings and preparing documentation for civil litigation and criminal investigations. In addition to conducting legal research on a multitude of issues, Ms. Edgeworth has participated in numerous mediations, arbitrations and assisted in settlement negotiations.
Previously, Ms. Edgeworth served as an extern with the California Department of Parks and Recreation, where she assisted Staff Counsel in legal research regarding copyright, trademark, privacy and unfair competition matters; drafting licensing agreements; devising strategies for pursuing trademark infringers; and developing intellectual property policies for the Department. Additionally, Ms. Edgeworth served as an intake counselor for Legal Services of Northern California helping clients in landlord-tenant disputes, including assisting in the handling of unlawful detainer cases.
